TORONTO – The Greater Toronto Hockey League brought together some of the province’s top Under-11 talent this past weekend as 16 teams faced off at the 2025 Platinum Cup, held from Friday, November 21 to Sunday, November 23, 2025.
Hosted by the GTHL, the tournament featured two competitive divisions – U11 A and U11 AA – with representation from four major minor hockey organizations: the GTHL, Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA), Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO), and the ALLIANCE.
The GTHL extends gracious thanks to the support of Gatorade, the Hockey Hall of Fame, Brampton Steelheads, and the Toronto Marlies who provided all attending teams special gifting to share with their athletes. Special thanks also goes to Spordle and SMAHL Hockey that joined us on location for the tournament.
Across three days of play, teams battled through tightly contested round-robin games and elimination match-ups, setting the stage for two exciting championship finals on Sunday afternoon.
U11 A Championship Final: LaSalle Sabres Strike Gold
The U11 A final saw an all-OMHA match-up as the Ausable Valley Coyotes took on the LaSalle Sabres.
LaSalle opened the scoring with two early goals to jump out to a 2–0 lead. Refusing to go away quietly, Ausable Valley clawed back with two of their own to even things up at 2–2 and shift the momentum.
From there, however, the Sabres took control. Capitalizing on their chances and locking things down defensively, LaSalle added three unanswered goals to secure a 5–2 victory and the U11 A Platinum Cup title.
U11 AA Championship Final: Kanata Blazers Edge Burlington Eagles
In the U11 AA championship game, it was an inter-branch showdown as the Burlington Eagles (OMHA) faced the Kanata Blazers (HEO).
The final lived up to expectations, with both teams trading chances in a tightly played contest. In the end, it was the Blazers who found the extra edge they needed, skating to a hard-fought 2–1 win to capture the U11 AA championship.
Across both divisions, the Platinum Cup highlighted the strong development of players emerging from GTHL, OMHA, HEO, and ALLIANCE programs.
The GTHL thanks all participating teams, coaches, officials, and families for contributing to a successful and positive 2025 Platinum Cup tournament.
