With over 25 years behind the bench, Davis Yoo’s coaching journey began while he was still in university — stepping into competitive hockey and never looking back.
In this feature, Davis shares how he started his own child in Learn to Play while simultaneously coaching that same team up through levels.
Today, Davis is also a Coach and Advisor with the Hong Kong Hockey Association, helping the governing body build a national program with an ambitious vision: qualifying for the Olympics. The program continues to climb the ranks, improving its standing from the IIHF third division.
As a coach, Davis is driven by two things: progression and compete level — getting the most out of every player and helping them take the next step, both on and off the ice.
Now, with his son moving on to another team, Davis has returned to the Under-12 age group with a clear purpose: equipping kids with life skills that help them achieve as much as possible — in hockey and beyond.
