Team Managers: Get Started

Becoming a minor hockey Team Manager is an important way to support players, families, and coaches while helping the team succeed on and off the ice. To get started, every Team Manager must complete a few important steps.

STEP 1

CREATE/LOG IN TO YOUR HOCKEY CANADA ACCOUNT

  • Go to the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR).
(If you do not have a profile, create an account.)
  • Make sure your profile information is correct and up to date. If you’re linked to a family account, select your own profile before checking qualifications or registrations.

STEP 2

CHECK YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications vary based on the level and age of team.
  • Use your HCR profile to review what you’ve already completed and what’s still needed.
  • Certifications may include:
    • Shift Forward/Respect in Sport
    • Gender Identity and Expression Training

STEP 3

REGISTER FOR CLINICS OR COURSES

  • Sign up early to secure your spot in any required clinics.
  • Registration is done through your HCR profile.

STEP 4

COMPLETE A VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECK (VSC)

All bench staff must have a valid Vulnerable Sector Check completed. For more information, visit the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) website.

STEP 5

CHECK FOR CERTIFICATES AND DOCUMENTS IN HCR.

Review your HCR account to ensure all completed certifications and required documents are completed and recorded in your account.

STEP 6

GET APPROVED AND JOIN YOUR TEAM

Once all requirements are complete and approved, you’re officially ready to join your team.
