Helping More Kids Play: GTHL and KidSport Ontario Award $54,335 in 2025-26 Funding

As the Greater Toronto Hockey League recognizes KidSport Week, the League is proud to highlight the continued impact of its partnership with KidSport Ontario in helping make hockey more accessible for families across the GTHL community.

Through the partnership, the GTHL provides a financial contribution to KidSport Ontario to support individual hockey grant applications. KidSport Ontario and its local chapters benefiting from this collaboration administer the funds to approved applicants who meet KidSport requirements.

Individual grants from KidSport Ontario of $300 are matched through the GTHL’s contribution, awarding $600 per child per year.

For the 2025-26 season, a total of 95 athletes were approved for funding, with $54,335 awarded in support of hockey participation. Funding reached athletes across 22 GTHL Clubs, helping reduce financial barriers for families throughout the League’s community.

The 2025-26 season also reflected the broad reach of the program across stages of athlete development. Among approved recipients, the program supported 14 new Canadian athletes, three athletes with a disability, and one Indigenous athlete.

Over the first two seasons of the partnership, $70,685 in total funding has supported 125 athletes and their hockey experience across the GTHL.

The GTHL is proud to continue working alongside KidSport Ontario to reduce financial barriers and help ensure that every kid can play.
