The Greater Toronto Hockey League is excited to announce the return of GTHL Girls Development Day, taking place Sunday, October 18 at Scotiabank Pond as part of the League’s celebration of World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend.
Designed specifically for female players, Girls Development Day will bring girls from across the GTHL together for a dedicated development experience focused on building skills, confidence, connection, and community both on and off the ice.
The event returns following the success of the League’s first-ever Girls Development Day, held on International Women’s Day in March 2026. The sold-out inaugural event welcomed 40 players from across the GTHL for a day of on-ice and off-ice development in an all-girls environment. Participants trained with female instructors, took part in team-building activities, and heard from university athletes about their experiences and pathways through hockey.
Building on that experience, the second Girls Development Day continues the GTHL’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for girls to develop their game while strengthening their sense of belonging within the League.
“The first Girls Development Day showed us just how valuable it can be to create a space where girls from different teams, age groups, and levels can come together through hockey,” said Stephanie Hyde, the GTHL’s Manager of Development and Community Outreach. “We’re excited to build on that momentum and give even more players an opportunity to develop their skills, meet other girls who share their passion for the game, and see that there is a strong and growing community for them within the GTHL.”
Girls Development Day is open to girls ages Under-10 to Under-15 playing at any level within the GTHL, including house league, select, and competitive (A, AA, AAA).
Participants will take part in an off-ice training session before coming together for lunch and a speaker session. The afternoon will feature a 90-minute on-ice development session. Each participant will also receive a Girls Development Day jersey to keep, along with a light lunch.
