TORONTO, ON — The Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) and Imperial Oil (Esso) are excited to announce the return of the Esso GTHL Puck Drop Weekend, taking place October 24-25 at the NFP Athletic Centre. Following the success of the last two seasons, the weekend will once again celebrate the start of the GTHL season with interactive experiences, appearances from hockey celebrities, and opportunities for players and families to connect through the game they love.
The continued partnership between Esso and the GTHL will once again bring together the spirit of community hockey and the energy of the sport’s next generation. The event will feature a full slate of League games along with exciting fan and player activations throughout the weekend.
This year’s Puck Drop Weekend will include:
- Special appearance by Coach Jeremy: Join one of hockey’s most dynamic instructors
- Meet & Greet with Toronto Maple Leafs: Get up close with Leafs legends Wendel Clark, Doug Gilmour, Jake Muzzin, Kyle Clifford, and Max Domi!
- Trivia Games with the Leafs: Test your hockey knowledge for a chance to win Leafs merchandise
- Iconic Hockey Hall of Fame Trophies: Weekend participants and fans will have the chance to see some of the game’s most legendary trophies up close
- Skill Testing Activations: Players can test their skills through activations courtesy of Esso
- Create Your Own Hockey Card: Capture your Esso GTHL Puck Drop Weekend memories with your very own hockey card

The Most Driven Medal, made possible by Esso, returns this year — presented after every game to one player on each team. This medal recognizes players who make a lasting impact on the game — whether through leadership, sportsmanship, or continued effort through to the final whistle.
Esso’s longstanding commitment to grassroots hockey continues through its Esso Medals program, which celebrates player achievement across the country. Esso Medal recipients can register their awards to have their names featured in the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Esso Medals Exhibit.
Players can register their medals at essomedals.com/hhof.
