Rink Attendants: Get Started

Rink Attendants play an important role in ensuring that GTHL games run smoothly. This role is the key connection between officials, timekeepers, arena staff, and the League.

STEP 1

EXPECTATIONS

As a Rink Attendant, you are expected to:

  • Participate in all required GTHL training sessions.
  • Be visible inside the rink and available to teams and officials (not working from the front office).
  • Arrive 75 minutes prior to game time to set up dressing room assignments.
  • Stay until the final game of the day has ended.
  • Record the start and finish time of each game, as well as the actual playing time.
  • Provide additional support as required.

If you are unable to work a shift, you are responsible for finding a replacement. A master email list is available to post or pick up available shifts.

STEP 2

RESPONSIBILITIES

Rink Attendants are responsible for:

  • Collecting game sheet fees from teams to pay officials and timekeepers at the end of their shifts.
  • Contacting Central Registry if timekeepers or game officials are late and following GTHL procedures.
  • Reporting any changes or cancellations to arena staff.
  • Handling GTHL hardware and iPads for game sheet processing.
  • Observing and reporting inappropriate behaviour, safety issues, or arena cleanliness issues to the GTHL General Manager.
  • Downloading and uploading electronic game sheets on the GTHL Portal at the end of each shift.

STEP 3

training & onboarding

If you are offered a position:

  • You must complete the application form and provide your banking information for payroll setup.
  • You will need to submit a Vulnerable Sector Check prior to starting.
  • You will be scheduled for a training session with a Rink Attendant Instructor. Training includes hands-on instruction, plus materials such as:
    • Game sheet fee schedule
    • Dressing room assignment sheets
    • Updated EGS Manual (when available)
    • iPad with paper game sheets
