U10 AAA Markham Majors, Mississauga Senators Unite for Hockey Fights Cancer, Raise Over $5,000

With purple tape and a shared purpose, the Under-10 Markham Majors and U10 Mississauga Senators came together in support of Hockey Fights Cancer on Sunday, February 8 at Thornhill Community Centre. As the Majors hosted Hockey Fights Cancer Game Day, the Senators stepped in with full support, and together the two teams united to exceed the $5,000 fundraising goal.

The day carried even deeper meaning for the Majors, as team manager Jaclyn Moro is currently battling cancer, and the community rallied around her with visible, heartfelt support.

The morning began with a ceremonial puck drop, including Moro, as well as Randy Jacobs (General Manager of the Markham Majors) and Mike James (President of the Mississauga Senators), standing alongside the players, families, and community in support of the cause.

Off the ice, the community had meaningful ways to contribute throughout the day. Families and spectators could take part in a 50/50 draw and silent auction, had the chance to get hair “Cuts for a Cure”, and stop by the “I Fight For” Awareness Wall of Hope — each piece adding to the shared message that no one fights alone. The snack bar also contributed proceeds to support the fundraising campaign, with activities continuing into the evening.
