TORONTO, ON – The Greater Toronto Hockey League is proud to announce that the 15th annual GTHL Legacy Classic presented by Spordle raised a record-breaking $64,969.28 in support of the GTHL Legacy Fund.
Held on July 28 at Richmond Hill Golf Club, the milestone edition of the annual tournament surpassed the event’s previous fundraising record for the second consecutive year, bringing together the GTHL community for a sold-out day of golf and support for greater access to the game.
Established in 2011, the GTHL Legacy Fund provides financial assistance to GTHL families in need and supports organizations delivering hockey programs focused on child and community development.
Celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2026, the Legacy Classic welcomed a sold-out field of 144 golfers, with over 180 attendees taking part throughout the day, including golfers, guests, partners, donors, staff, and members of the GTHL community.
“Fifteen years of the Legacy Classic is an incredible milestone, and to celebrate it by setting another fundraising record speaks to the generosity of the entire GTHL community,” said Scott Oakman, GTHL Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer. “From our golfers and partners to our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to the day, this event continues to demonstrate what can be accomplished when our community comes together. Most importantly, every dollar raised helps create more opportunities for young people to access our game.”
The day featured 18 holes of golf alongside breakfast, lunch, on-course snacks and refreshments, attendee gifting, door prizes, foursome prizing, trophies and awards, and a variety of contests and interactive experiences throughout the course.
A total of 25 event sponsors, 85 donors, and 11 on-course activations helped make the milestone tournament possible.
Golfers also competed across five contest holes and challenges, including Men’s and Women’s Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, the Putting Challenge, and a new Longest Putt competition.
Several additional fundraising initiatives played a significant role in the record-setting total, including:
- Digital Silent Auction: $10,756 raised through an assortment of signed memorabilia, jerseys, experiences, gift packages, and more.
- Putting Challenge: $2,010.04 raised in support of the Legacy Fund.
- Charity Golf International — Par 5 Pro: $2,530.48 raised through the tournament’s on-course fundraising experience.
The GTHL extends a special thank you to Spordle, presenting sponsor of the GTHL Legacy Classic, for its commitment to the event and the Legacy Fund.
The League also recognizes the tremendous support of the tournament’s 25 sponsors and 85 donors, whose financial contributions, in-kind donations, gifting, prizing, and on-site presence helped enhance every part of the event.
A sincere thank you is also extended to Richmond Hill Golf Club and its staff for once again providing an outstanding venue and experience for everyone involved in the Legacy Classic.
From the golfers who filled the course to the organizations and individuals who contributed to the fundraising efforts, the success of the 15th annual Legacy Classic was made possible by the collective support of the GTHL community.
Funds raised through the GTHL Legacy Classic directly support the Legacy Fund and its work to reduce financial barriers to hockey participation and create more opportunities for children and communities to experience the game.
