2025 U18 AAA All-Stars: Graduating Class

Ahead of the Greater Toronto Hockey League’s 2025 Under-18 All-Star Festival fuelled by Gatorade on January 25 at Scotiabank Pond, the ‘AAA’ All-Stars reflected on their minor hockey careers. The U18 ‘AAA’ All-Star Game caps off the festival at 4:00pm on Saturday, January 25. Admission to the U18 All-Star Festival, including all games, is free.

U18 AAA ALL-STARS: TEAM BLUE

#1 – G, JAYDEN RHEE (Don Mills Flyers)

JAYDEN RHEE

Favourite minor hockey memory: My favourite minor hockey memory was getting a shutout in the championship game for the Preston Cup tournament in Cambridge, Ontario against the number one seed in the province (Port Credit) and receiving the game MVP.
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my parents for the time and effort they have dedicated to help me pursue my hockey goals. 
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My hockey career has required strong determination and dedication to get to this level. Hockey is a very important aspect of my life and has helped me shape the person I am today.

Favourite minor hockey memory: My favourite hockey memory is playing in the OHL Cup Final last year. 
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my parents and coaches. 
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has meant a lot to me. Not only have I made great memories and friendships that will last a lifetime, this game has also allowed me to grow and develop into the person I am today.

MATTHEW LA MANNA

Favourite minor hockey memory: My favourite memory is participating in an outdoor game. 
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my dad.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has been much more than just hockey, it has taught me many great lessons, gave me lifelong friendships, and it has produced memories that I will never forget. Minor hockey has shaped my personality and passion for the game.

Favourite minor hockey memory: Winning the [Platinum] Cup.
Who would you like to thank? I’d like to thank my parents and sister for all the early morning and late night drives, and all the support they have given me throughout my hockey journey. I also want to thank all of my teammates and coaches – past and present. 
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has meant the world to me. I have created lifelong friendships and hockey has become an integral part of my life and identity.

#3 – D, MATTEO MANDARINO (North York Rangers)

MATTEO MANDARINO

Favourite minor hockey memory: Going undefeated with the U15 ‘AA’ Mississauga Beast.
Who would you like to thank? My whole family has gotten me to where I am and I wouldn’t be here without them, but most importantly, my dad and my mom who come and support me at every game.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has been a big staple in my life and it is something I cherish and think about every day. It is also the reason I want to keep moving on with my career.

Favourite minor hockey memory: Winning the GTHL championship.
Who would you like to thank? My parents, my family, Coach Spence Kirton, and Coach Nate Brooks.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? I’ve enjoyed it a ton. I’ve been able to create many friendships and it has opened up many experiences for me.

Favourite minor hockey memory: My favourite memory is playing hockey with friends and going on away tournaments.  
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my parents for all their support, my trainer Kyle Dutra, my coach Spence Kirton, and the Don Mills Flyers.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? Minor hockey has been a great experience for me, making great friends and memories that will last a lifetime. 

#20 – D, OLIVIER ROMAIN (Toronto Marlboros)

Favourite minor hockey memory: Going to Indiana/Notre Dame University for a hockey tournament.
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my parents and my coaches. 
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? I have met new people along the way who helped me become the player I am now and a better person overall.

#6 – F, CALLUM MURPHY (Markham Majors)

CALUM MURPHY

Favourite minor hockey memory: My favourite hockey memory is when I played in my first OMHA championship and won a silver medal for my hometown, Whitby.
Who would you like to thank? I want to thank my parents who guided me both on and off the ice.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? It has meant more than hockey to me, by building character and forming lifelong relationships. Most of all, it has shaped me into the person I am today.

Favourite minor hockey memory: Scoring double overtime winner shorthanded in Montreal meltdown tournament.
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my family and coaches for always believing in me.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? It’s meant a lot – it created friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. 

#12 – F, TOBIN RETTER (Toronto Marlboros)

TOBIN RETTER

Favourite minor hockey memory: Winning the GTHL championships in 2019.
Who would you like to thank? My dad for all of his effort and dedication towards my success.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has given me the opportunity to meet lots of amazing friends and not only develop as a person, but develop as a player. I am more confident and resilient and I understand the value of hard work.

Favourite minor hockey memory: Scoring four goals in a championship game with the last one being the overtime winner. 
Who would you like to thank? I’d like to thank my parents for the sacrifices they have made for me to play the sport I love.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has meant so much to me, as it has taught me teamwork, resilience, and hard work. Some of the best memories of mine are on the ice and it has been really special to be able to play this game.

Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my parents and family for all their support. 
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has been an amazing experience where I’ve made great friends, learned important lessons like teamwork and hard work, and created memories I’ll never forget. It’s helped me grow as a player and person.

Favourite minor hockey memory: Playing in a tournament in Buffalo at an outdoor rink. It was very cold and snowy but we had a great time
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my family and everyone that has supported my hockey over the years.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? Playing minor hockey, I have made many good friends, learned many life lessons, and developed a lot personally.

What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My hockey career provides me the opportunity to play the sport I love, compete at a high level, have fun, and build lifelong relationships with players and coaches.

Who would you like to thank? My mom and dad.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has been more than just a sport—it’s been a journey of personal growth and lifelong memories. It taught me the importance of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance—both on and off the ice.

Favourite minor hockey memory: The 2024 Silver Stick tournament—such an amazing experience to compete in front of a packed rink full of scouts!
Who would you like to thank? I’m incredibly grateful to my family and coaches for everything they do for me every day.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? Has given me the opportunity to create lifelong memories, build strong friendships with incredible teammates, and learn from amazing coaches who’ve shaped my journey so far.

#23 – F, NOAH MARTINS (Toronto Marlboros)

Favourite minor hockey memory: My favourite minor hockey memories are all from tournaments – going away with my team and family are always such a blast.
Who would you like to thank? I’m extremely thankful for my parents who sacrificed their time and money to give me the opportunity to play hockey all my life – through early morning practices and late night games. 
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has been a huge part of my life since it began – feels like my mood always depended on how well my career on the ice was going.

#24 – F, MARAT NUGUMANOV (North York Rangers)

MARAT NUGUMANOV

Favourite minor hockey memory: The most memorable thing about minor hockey was the first time I took first place in the region with my previous team, scoring the winning goal.
Who would you like to thank? I want to say thank you to everyone who has helped me throughout my minor hockey career, all my coaches and teammates, and I also want to especially thank my parents and grandparents for their support.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My career in minor hockey means a lot to me. It is one of the chapters in my life that helped me learn a lot about life and shape my personality.

#25 – F, JALEN LOBO (Toronto Jr. Canadiens)

JALEN LOBO

Favourite minor hockey memory: Winning the tournament“The Cup” in Buffalo.  
Who would you like to thank? My mom, dad, and all coaches and trainers for helping/supporting me!
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has been the most fun of anything in my life. All of my teammates have become close friends and great relationships with all of my coaches.

#30 – G, MICHAEL TAMBURRO (Reps Hockey Club)

MICHAEL TAMBURRO

Favourite minor hockey memory: U14 Ramada Hotel with NCP.
Who would you like to thank? My parents, my Uncle Paul, goalie coaches, and my coaches the past couple of years.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career means a lot to me. It made me a better person and it was a lot of fun through the ups and downs. 

#31 – G, ARVIN JASWAL (Toronto Red Wings)

ARVIN JASWAL

Favourite minor hockey memory: My favourite hockey memory is all of the away tournaments I attended. These road trips would be filled with amusement, entertainment, and competitiveness from the hotel nights, to the early mornings, and of course the hockey itself.
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my parents the most as they have made countless sacrifices for me throughout my young hockey career. The countless drives I needed and the amount of money spent for my equipment were insane, yet they still continued to support me. Overall, my parents did more than I may even know for me throughout my journey and I couldn’t be more thankful for them.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? Minor hockey has meant everything to me. It’s been more than just playing the game – it’s the friendships I’ve built, the challenges I’ve faced, and the memories I’ll never forget from like the long car rides and the thrill of game-winning moments. It’s taught me valuable lessons of hard work, dedication, and how to deal with both wins and losses. Every practice, every tournament, every second on the ice has played a huge part in shaping who I am today, and I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world.

What has your minor hockey career meant to you? Playing hockey has meant so much to me, making me a better person and creating friendships that will last a lifetime.

Favourite minor hockey memory: My favourite hockey memory is making this All-Star Team!
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank Lisa Clark, Matt Campagna, and all my past and present coaches.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has taught me about hard work and to never quit. I have also made so many great friends. It has given me personal confidence and showed me what teamwork is all about.

#4 – D, ALEKSANDR RI (Mississauga Rebels)

ALEKSANDR RI

Favourite minor hockey memory: Scoring five goals in one game.
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my mom, dad, family, Ruslan Geidarov, Mississauga Rebels Coaches (Henry, Mark, Adrian), Alex Kot, and my Russian coach Danil Melnichenko.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career means a lot to me. This is a huge chance to become strong, hardworking, and get into the professional league.

PETER KOUKOUVES

Favourite minor hockey memory: Playing in front of lots of people in the OHL Cup.
Who would you like to thank? I am very thankful and grateful for my family for giving me an opportunity to play hockey and support me throughout my career. 
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? It has meant a lot of joy and happiness for the game I love. I have met many people around the game who have impacted my life in a positive way. 

#7 – D, AUSTIN PUNCHARD (Toronto Young Nationals)

Favourite minor hockey memory: Playing in the Quebec International tournament semi-finals.
Who would you like to thank? Thank you mom for always being there during hard times, my dad for all the rides, and my grandpa for never missing a game. 
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has meant a lot to me. The friendships I’ve made will last a lifetime. 

#20 – D, HOLT CRUISE (Reps Hockey Club)

HOLT CRUISE

Favourite minor hockey memory: Getting called up from U16 to 18 to play in the playoffs for the Reps last year.
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my present coach Alex Bezerra for all of the time and effort he has put into me. He has helped me develop into the player I am today.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has taught me many life skills such as, hard work, mental toughness, and teamwork. It has also allowed me to make life-long friendships.

Who would you like to thank? My parents and my mentors, Nathanial Brooks and Dylan Smoskowitz. 
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? Minor hockey has given me memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. I am forever grateful for the lessons and life skills I’ve learned.

What has your minor hockey career meant to you? Hockey has allowed me to make connections with the people around me, embrace competition, and learn life lessons all while playing the game we love.

Favourite minor hockey memory: Winning the Toronto Titans U16 Early Bird tournament.
Who would you like to thank? I’d like to thank my father for always being there for me and giving me constant support through the tough times I’ve faced in hockey. 
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has meant the world to me. It’s been great meeting new friends and new coaches; these are the people that I highly appreciate because they have helped me develop skills that aren’t just applicable to hockey, but the every day world.

Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my dad, my mom, my past and present coaches, skills instructors, and all of my past and present teammates.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? Hockey has taught me a lot of important life lessons such as teamwork and building relationships that will last a lifetime. I really enjoyed working hard to become the best player I can be.

Favourite minor hockey memory: Scoring in overtime in the semi-final of the outdoor Buffalo tournament.
Who would you like to thank? My parents. They have always believed in me and challenged me to be better every day.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? Challenging myself and discovering new things I am able to accomplish. Enjoying every minute of being on the ice.

Favourite minor hockey memory: Winning the U11 OHF Provincial Championship with the Willowdale [Hawks] and taking the opening ceremony face-off.
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my mom and dad for their sacrifices in supporting me throughout my hockey career and for always believing in me. I would like to also thank my coaches Jim Egnatis and Matt Iannetta for mentoring me and helping me become the player and person I am today.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? It has meant everything to me. It has taught me many life lessons and kept me strong through difficult times. I have made lifelong friends and memories, and I’m grateful to have gained friends I consider family in hockey.

What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has been a source of personal growth, teaching me teamwork, discipline, and resilience while fostering a deep passion for the sport. It has shaped my character and provided lifelong memories and friendships.

Favourite minor hockey memory: First place in the Russian Districts Cup in November 2022. 
Who would you like to thank? I want to say thanks to my parents for giving me the opportunity to play hockey in Canada. 
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career shaped my character, teaching teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. It created lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories, deepening my love for the sport.

Favourite minor hockey memory: Doing the “superman celly” after scoring in a [U9] hockey tournament and winning the gold medal.
Who would you like to thank? I‘d like to thank my mom and dad for all the sacrifices they’ve made to support me.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? Minor hockey has meant everything to meIt taught me discipline, teamwork, and resilience, and it’s given me some of my closest friends and memories I’ll never forget.

#21 – F, BEN LYONS (Mississauga Rebels)

Favourite minor hockey memory: Winning the GTHL championship in [U10] with the York Toros.
Who would you like to thank? I’d like to thank my mom and dad, as well as all of my coaches throughout the years for their time, energy, and effort in helping me get to this level.
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has meant everything to me. It has taught me many tough lessons through wins, losses, hard battles, as well as friendship. Minor hockey has made me the confident, dedicated, and hardworking person I am today.

Favourite minor hockey memory: All the friendships I have formed over the years with teammates and coaches.
Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my parents for all the time and support they have given me over the years and for providing me the opportunity to play the game I love. 
What has your minor hockey career meant to you? My minor hockey career has been an amazing experience filled with personal growth, teamwork, and memories that have helped me prepare for my future.
