Around the G – September 2024 Preview 

The Labour Day weekend has come and gone, which means the 2024-25 hockey season is right around the corner! Check out everything going on Around the G this September.

• Referee Clinics – Entry Level and Re-Certification (September) 

The GTHL is hosting Referee Clinics on various dates throughout the month of September. These clinics range from entry-level referees to Level 1-6 re-certifications for experienced referees.

• Saleh Uncle Memorial Cup (September 7)

The Saleh Uncle Memorial Cup, held in honour of Saleh Hafejee, will take place in Cornell Park on Saturday, September 7. The community ball hockey tournament serves to remember the contribution of Hafejee to the Muslim community and youth participation in ball hockey.  

The tournament fosters unity amongst the community, with teams and families attending from all over the GTA. The tournament will be a day filled with friendly competition, camaraderie, and shared memories. It will also include food, bouncy castles, and an award ceremony to enhance the overall experience for participants and attendees.

• Scarborough Ice Raiders Early Bird Tournament (September 20-22) 

The Scarborough Ice Raiders are hosting an early bird tournament for Under-10 to U16 ‘A’ and U10 to U15 ‘AA’ divisions. All games will be played out of Don Montgomery and Commander Park Arenas.

• Toronto Marlboros International Friendship Tournament (September 20-22) 

The Toronto Marlboros are hosting the 30th annual International Friendship Tournament. Teams in the U10, U11, and U12 ‘AAA’ divisions from Canada and the United States face-off in one of the first sanctioned tournaments of the season!

• Toronto Red Wings Early Bird Tournament (September 20-22) 

The Toronto Red Wings are hosting the 42nd annual Early Bird Tournament. Teams from the U13, U14, and U15 ‘AAA’ divisions are eligible to enter. All games will be played out of Chesswood, Westwood, and Scotiabank Pond.

• Toronto Titans U16 & U18 ‘AAA’ Early Bird Prospects Tournament (September 23-29) 

The Toronto Titans are hosting the 16th annual U16 ‘AAA’ Early Bird Prospects Tournament at Scotiabank Pond, Chesswood, and Westwood arenas in late September. The Titans will welcome over 40 U16 ‘AAA’ teams from across Ontario and the United States to compete in the premier early bird tournament for this age group.

The Toronto Titans are also hosting the 11th annual U18 ‘AAA’ Early Bird Prospects Tournament that same week. This tournament will also be played out of Scotiabank Pond, Chesswood, and Westwood arenas and will feature approximately 30 U18 ‘AAA’ teams from across Ontario and the United States.

• Vaughan Regional Silver Stick (‘AA’) (September 23-29) 

The Vaughan Rangers will be hosting their annual Silver Stick regional tournament for the ‘AA’ division at the U10 to U18 age groups. All games from this tournament will be played out of rinks in Vaughan.

• West Mall ‘A’ Early Bird Tournament (September 25-29) 

The West Mall Lightning are hosting an ‘A’ division tournament for the U11 to U18 age groups. All games from this tournament will be played out of rinks in Etobicoke.

• The Victoria Village Fall Invitational (September 27-29) 

Victoria Village Hockey League is hosting an invite-only tournament for U11 to U18 Select teams.
