The Ontario Hockey League completed the 2022 OHL Priority Selection with a total of 303 players chosen through the 15-round process. The annual Priority Selection was held online over two days, with rounds 1-3 on April 29, followed by rounds 4-15 on April 30.

Out of the 303 predominantly 2006-born players selected from 82 teams across Ontario and parts of the United States, a record 110 Greater Toronto Hockey League players were chosen, making up 36 per cent of the draft’s total. The first round was an indication of what was to come, with eight out of the first 10 picks GTHL representatives, including first overall selection, Michael Misa. The OHL Cup MVP became the fifth exceptional status player to have their name called first in OHL Priority Selection history.

The 110 GTHL players selected included 61 forwards, 32 defence, and 17 goaltenders. The 61 forwards represented 35 per cent of the OHL’s 171 selected. The 32 defence represented 34 per cent of the OHL’s total 93, while the 17 goaltenders made up 43 per cent of the OHL-record 39 chosen.

The GTHL had a total of 13 clubs see players selected, with OHL Cup champion Mississauga Senators leading the way alongside the North York Rangers and Toronto Jr. Canadiens with 15. The Markham Majors and the Toronto Marlboros were in a close second with 14 players. The Vaughan Kings and the Don Mills Flyers were in the middle of the pack with eight and seven players respectively. Tied with six players each were the Toronto Young Nationals and the Toronto Red Wings, while the Mississauga Rebels, Reps Hockey Club, Thunder Bay Kings, and the Toronto Titans each had two players chosen.
