In a special edition of the Beyond the Bench series to celebrate National Coaches Week, the GTHL sat down with Tanya Witty, Head Coach of the Under-16 Toronto East Enders Ticats. In the episode, Tanya talks about her coaching journey, her coaching philosophy, and the importance of creating space for women in the game.
Coming off a historic season where she became the first woman to win the GTHL’s Herb Ebisuzaki Coaching Award and was also recognized by Hockey Canada as the Ontario Community recipient of the 2025 BFL Women in Coaching Award, Tanya shares her experiences, the lessons she’s learned, and her message to other women considering a future in coaching.
