The Greater Toronto Hockey League is proud to announce the return of the Founders Cup for the 2025-26 season, marking the tournament’s first year back since 2019-20.
The Founders Cup, which originally launched in the 2009-2010 season, is designed to extend the season in a competitive, positive environment for teams whose playoff runs end in the first round — delivering more meaningful games, more development opportunities, and a true championship pathway through March and April.
Teams eliminated in the first round of the playoffs are eligible to compete in the Founders Cup. For the Under-10 to U13 age ranges, this means being eliminated during the first round robin. For U14 to U18 age groups, this means losing their first-round series.
Most games will be scheduled on weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), with the possibility of an occasional weekday game.
The Founders Cup will run into mid-April, with the finals taking place Sunday, April 19.
Additional details, including registration information and division-specific formats, will be shared with teams.
Please note the Founders Cup is a separate tournament from the King Clancy Cup tournament.
