GTHL Launches House League Spotlight Series, Starting at Victoria Village

Every hockey community has a story to tell, and the Greater Toronto Hockey League is hitting the road to share them.

As part of the League’s 2026–27 Built Together season and its A League of Neighbourhoods initiative, the GTHL is launching the House League Spotlight series, celebrating the local hockey associations, people, and communities that make the game possible across the Greater Toronto Area.

Taking viewers inside community arenas, the series offers a walk-through look at House League hockey — from the excitement on the ice to the volunteers, coaches, families, and familiar faces who make each association special.

It Takes a Village: Welcome to Victoria Village Hockey

For the first edition of House League Spotlight, the GTHL visits the Victoria Village Hockey League, home of the Vikings.

With a fitting motto, “It takes a Village to raise a hockey player, join ours,” Victoria Village is all about bringing its community together through hockey.

Operating out of Victoria Village Arena in North York, the not-for-profit House League program welcomes players ages four to 17, providing opportunities to learn the game, develop skills, build friendships, and have fun.

From Saturday morning practices to Sunday game days, the Vikings offer a hockey experience focused on development, participation, and creating a welcoming environment for players of all abilities.

The association also provides additional opportunities for skill development, including skating and goalie training, while introducing new players to the game through its Learn to Play programming.

Behind it all is a dedicated group of volunteers, coaches, and families who help make Victoria Village a place where young players can discover their love for hockey.

A League of Neighbourhoods, Built Together

House League hockey is often where a lifelong connection to the game begins.

Across the GTA, community hockey associations provide more than a place to play. They bring neighbourhoods together, create lasting friendships, and introduce generations of families to the game.

Through the House League Spotlight series, the GTHL will continue visiting local associations throughout the season, giving viewers a closer look at the people, traditions, and experiences that make each hockey community unique.

While every neighbourhood has its own story, they all contribute to the same thing: the game and the GTHL, that continues to be Built Together.
