14 GTHL Alumni Selected in 2026 NHL Draft

Fourteen Greater Toronto Hockey League alumni heard their names called during the 2026 NHL Draft, with players selected across all seven rounds by 11 NHL clubs.

The group was led by Vaughan Kings alumnus Caleb Malhotra, who was selected third overall by the Vancouver Canucks following a standout season with the Ontario Hockey League’s Brantford Bulldogs. Malhotra became the first GTHL alumnus selected in the top three since Michael Misa was taken first overall in 2025.

Malhotra was one of six GTHL alumni selected through the opening three rounds, with Ryder Cali, Alexander Bilecki, Pierce Mbuyi, Alessandro Di Iorio, and Adam Valentini also coming off the board on Day 2 of the Draft.

Toronto Marlboros alumni led the way among GTHL clubs with four selections, followed by the Vaughan Kings with three. The Markham Majors, Mississauga Rebels, and Toronto Jr. Canadiens each had two alumni selected, while the Toronto Titans had one.

GTHL alumni selected in the 2026 NHL Draft

Round 1

CALEB MALHOTRA (Vaughan Kings) – 3rd Overall – Vancouver Canucks
Current team: Brantford Bulldogs, OHL
Malhotra was selected third overall by the Canucks after posting 84 points in 67 regular season games with Brantford, followed by 26 points in 15 playoff games. The Vaughan Kings alumnus was one of the top-ranked centres available in the 2026 draft class and became the first GTHL alumnus selected in 2026.

Round 2

RYDER CALI (Markham Majors) – 48th Overall – Florida Panthers
Current team: North Bay Battalion, OHL
Cali was selected by the Panthers in the second round after recording 36 points in 47 games with North Bay. The 6-foot-2 centre also represented Canada at the 2026 IIHF World Under-18 Championship.

ALEXANDER BILECKI (Mississauga Rebels) – 60th Overall – Toronto Maple Leafs
Current team: Kitchener Rangers, OHL
Bilecki stayed close to home, selected by the Maple Leafs in the second round. The Mississauga Rebels alumnus appeared in 66 games with Kitchener, registering 29 points from the blue line.

Round 3

PIERCE MBUYI (Toronto Marlboros) – 86th Overall – Pittsburgh Penguins
Current team: Owen Sound Attack, OHL
Mbuyi was the first Toronto Marlboros alumnus selected in the 2026 NHL Draft, going to Pittsburgh in the third round. The Mississauga, Ontario native produced 75 points in 68 games with Owen Sound after previously starring with the Marlboros at the U16 AAA level.

ALESSANDRO DI IORIO (Vaughan Kings) – 94th Overall – Columbus Blue Jackets
Current team: Sarnia Sting, OHL
Di Iorio became the second Vaughan Kings alumnus selected, going 94th overall to Columbus. The Sarnia Sting forward recorded 31 points in 45 games during the 2025-26 OHL season.

ADAM VALENTINI (Toronto Marlboros) – 96th Overall – Utah Mammoth
Current team: University of Michigan, NCAA
Valentini was selected by Utah after a strong freshman season at Michigan, where he posted 27 points in 40 games. The Toronto Marlboros alumnus was the second GTHL player selected in the third round by a Western Conference club.

Round 4

PARKER VON RICHTER (Toronto Marlboros) – 111th Overall – Pittsburgh Penguins
Current team: Barrie Colts, OHL
Von Richter joined Mbuyi in the Penguins’ draft class, giving Pittsburgh two Toronto Marlboros alumni in 2026. The right-shot defenceman recorded 24 points in 28 games with Barrie.

Round 5

ANDREW ROBINSON (Vaughan Kings) – 133rd Overall – Edmonton Oilers
Current team: Windsor Spitfires, OHL
Robinson became the third Vaughan Kings alumnus selected, going to Edmonton in the fifth round.

HARRIS PANGRETITSCH (Toronto Marlboros) – 151st Overall – Ottawa Senators
Current team: Soo Greyhounds, OHL
Pangretitsch was selected by Ottawa in the fifth round, becoming the fourth Toronto Marlboros alumnus taken in the 2026 NHL Draft.

Round 6

ANDRE MONDOUX (Toronto Titans) – 162nd Overall – New York Rangers
Current team: Kingston Frontenacs, OHL
Mondoux was selected by the Rangers in the sixth round, representing the Toronto Titans among the GTHL alumni chosen.

ALEX KOSTOV (Markham Majors) – 177th Overall – Los Angeles Kings
Current team: Flint Firebirds, OHL
Kostov became the second Markham Majors alumnus selected, going to Los Angeles after a productive season with Flint that included 55 points in 47 games.

COLE ZURAWSKI (Mississauga Rebels) – 181st Overall – Florida Panthers
Current team: Owen Sound Attack, OHL
Zurawski joined Cali as the second GTHL alumnus selected by Florida. The Mississauga Rebels alumnus recorded 46 points in 63 games with Owen Sound.

WESLEY ROYSTON (U15 Toronto Jr. Canadiens) – 190th Overall – Montreal Canadiens
Current team: Owen Sound Attack, OHL
Royston was selected by Montreal in the sixth round, becoming the third Owen Sound player with GTHL ties selected in 2026.

Round 7

LUCAS AMBROSIO (Toronto Jr. Canadiens) – 223rd Overall – Los Angeles Kings
Current team: Erie Otters, OHL
Ambrosio closed out the GTHL alumni selections, going to Los Angeles in the seventh round. The 6-foot-4 defenceman recorded 20 points in 64 games with Erie.
