The Seaman Hotchkiss Hockey Foundation, in partnership with Hockey Canada, is proud to support the next generation of Canadian officials through the Kenneth R. Stiles Memorial Scholarship. Established in honour of Ken Stiles and his outstanding contributions to grassroots hockey, the scholarship continues his legacy by empowering young leaders to pursue both academic and officiating excellence.
Originally formed as Project 75, the Seaman Hotchkiss Hockey Foundation has played a pivotal role in the development of many Hockey Canada programs. The Hockey Canada Officiating Program of Excellence is one initiative that has benefitted from the Foundation’s vision.
The Kenneth R. Stiles Memorial Scholarship supports Canadian student-athletes and officials as they pursue post-secondary education. Ken Stiles was a cornerstone of Project 75 and a driving force behind its commitment to creating opportunities for individuals who demonstrate both excellence in sport and a dedication to education.
Born in Didsbury, Alberta, Kenneth Roy Stiles began his education in a one-room schoolhouse and went on to earn a degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Alberta. His career spanned farming, law firm management, and leadership in several Alberta industries. A true steward of his community, Ken also championed environmental conservation and youth development through initiatives like 4-H and Hockey Canada.
His legacy lives on through this scholarship, honouring those who share his commitment to integrity, hard work, and community involvement.
