On Friday, October 11, the puck dropped on the American Hockey League (AHL) 2024-25 season. Opening night rosters featured a total of 64 Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) alumni.
Of the 32 teams in the AHL, 30 include at least one former GTHL player on their roster to start the season. 11 of the teams include a minimum of three former GTHL players. Leading the way, all with four former GTHL players, are the Charlotte Checkers, Springfield Thunderbirds, Texas Stars, and Tucson Roadrunners.
All 12 GTHL ‘AAA’ clubs are represented with at least one former player, with the Toronto Marlboros atop the list with 19. With the second-and-third-most representatives included are the Toronto Jr. Canadiens (10) and Don Mills Flyers (6) respectively. The Mississauga Senators and the Vaughan Kings each have five former players rostered, while the Mississauga Rebels and the Toronto Young Nationals each have four. The Markham Majors and the Toronto Titans feature three former players each and the Toronto Red Wings show two representatives. The North York Rangers and the Reps Hockey Club round out the list with one former player each.
