On Friday, February 14, the Greater Toronto Hockey League hosted its second PD Skill Development Day presented by Gitch Sportswear (GSW) of the 2024-25 season. In its sixth season, the event was once again a success, welcoming 71 participants. The participants ranged from Under-9 to U13, with a varying skillset including house league to ‘AAA.’
The day included two on-ice sessions, an off-ice session in the classroom, as well as dryland training. On the ice, the first session consisted of skating and skills, with a focus throughout the day on skills in stations and small area games. Above all, both on ice sessions prioritized having fun.
In the classroom, participants showed off their competitive side with trivia around the NHL’s 4 Nations Face-Off for a chance to win hats courtesy of GSW.
Participants also had the opportunity to play mini-games at Matt Nichol’s training facility, focusing on fitness and fun.
While at Development Day, the GTHL asked participants why they love hockey. Hear what they had to say:
A special thank you to the GSW for outfitting the participants in new GTHL Development jerseys and t-shirts, as well as providing GTHL on-ice instructors with new gear.
