Esso GTHL Puck Drop Weekend Returns October 25–26 at Canlan York

TORONTO, ON — The Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) and Esso are excited to announce the return of the Esso GTHL Puck Drop Weekend, taking place October 25-26 at Canlan York. Following the success of last season’s inaugural event, the weekend will once again celebrate the start of the GTHL season with interactive experiences, appearances from hockey celebrities, and opportunities for players and families to connect through the game they love.

The continued partnership between Esso and the GTHL will once again bring together the spirit of community hockey and the energy of the sport’s next generation. The event will feature a full slate of League games along with exciting fan and player activations throughout the weekend.

This year’s Puck Drop Weekend will include:

  • Special appearances by Coach Jeremy and Pavel Barber: Join two of hockey’s most dynamic instructors for demonstrations, skill tips, and fun hockey insight.
  • Meet & Greet with Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni: Get up close with Leafs legends Wendel Clark, Doug Gilmour, and Curtis Joseph.
  • Trivia Games with the Leafs: Test your hockey knowledge for a chance to win Leafs merchandise.
  • Iconic Hockey Hall of Fame Trophies: Weekend participants and fans will have the chance to see some of the game’s most legendary trophies up close.
  • Skill Testing Activations: Players can test their on-ice skills through activations courtesy of Esso and the NHL.
  • Create Your Own Hockey Card: Capture your Esso GTHL Puck Drop Weekend memories with your very own hockey card.

The Most Driven Medal, made possible by Esso, returns this year — presented after every game to one player on each team. Selected by the opposing team’s coaches, this medal recognizes players who make a lasting impact on the game — whether through leadership, sportsmanship, or continued effort through to the final whistle.

Esso’s longstanding commitment to grassroots hockey continues through its Esso Medals program, which celebrates player achievement across the country. Esso Medal recipients can register their awards to have their names featured in the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Esso Medals Exhibit, alongside the Stanley Cup and the game’s greatest legends.
